Situated in the Province of Isabela, the Philippine Normal University-North Luzon Alumni Park stands as a powerful tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous communities in the region. Designed by Baybay Design Studio and led by architect Jahziel V. Baybay, the park reflects the deep values of fellowship and community integration, drawing inspiration from the traditional social gatherings of the northern Igorot and Gad’dang tribes.
At the heart of the design is a striking circular formation that echoes the layout of indigenous ceremonies, storytelling assemblies, and communal dances. This circular structure, symbolizing unity, inclusivity, and the spirit of “pakikipag-kapwa” (social embrace) and “pagsasama-sama” (togetherness), serves as a bold representation of a shared cultural identity.
As the Indigenous Peoples Education Hub for the region, the Alumni Park is a beacon of tradition, inviting visitors to experience the living history of the Filipino indigenous peoples while ushering in the future. Its unique design honors the past while embracing the evolving cultural landscape.
The Alumni Park may be presented as a reminder of the enduring power of community and culture, an embodiment of the indigenous identity that continues to thrive and shape the future.
